“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”: (John 1:12)
God does the giving and we do the receiving.
Only one thing is called “The Gift of God” and that is Eternal life!
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:”
“Not of works, lest any man should boast”. (Ephesians 2:8,9)
If you want it you must receive it as a gift and give God all the glory, there is only one way and this is it!
It is Free! God refers to eternal life as a free gift repeatedly. (Romans 5:15-18)
“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous”. (Rom 5:19)
It is by the obedience of one man and that man is Jesus Christ, not you! There is nothing that you can do to be comparable to what God has done!
Eternal Life is a Gift, It is Free, Jesus paid for it in full and you receive it the moment you believe! You can never lose it! (John 6:37, 39)
“For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another”. (Isa 48:11)
God does not share his Glory with anyone! (Isa 48:11)
Either you are working to be saved or you are saved, but you can’t be both! (Rom. 4:4)
You can’t be saved if you are working to be saved. You can only be saved if you are trusting to be saved!
“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt”. (Romans 4:4)
No grace means no salvation! Debt means that you pay for your own sin in hell! You cannot be saved if you are working to be saved!
If you are working for your salvation it is because you have not understood and believed the gospel! If that is the case then you are lost! You need to trust Jesus Christ alone to be saved.
You can only be saved if you are TRUSTING to be saved! Just Faith!
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5)
Do you compare your righteousness’s to God’s?!! Do you compare your deeds to God’s deeds?!
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;” (Isaiah 64:6)
That is what God thinks about your best deeds compared to his righteousness!
If you want to share God’s Glory with him, then you have sinned!
“For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.” (Isaiah 48:11)
That thought is Blasphemy! That thought is unbelief. Change your mind! Believe the gospel! It has already been done for you by God! Jesus already paid our penalty in full, on the cross of Calvary! (John19:30) All you have to do is believe it! (Acts 16:31)
Anything but belief in those facts that define our salvation as declared in the Scriptures, is unbelief! (1 Corinthians 15:3,4)
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;” (1 Corinthians 15:3)
“And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:4)
The Gospel is defined in the scriptures.

Any other gospel that is not “according to the scriptures” is a false gospel and will not save!
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8)
The nature of God and his Creation requires a hefty price to be paid to save the human race! Only God can pay that price!
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
Notice that In the Beginning the Word was already there!
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth”. (John 1:14)
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory”.(1Timothy 3:16)
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. (2Corinthians 5:21)
“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity” (Titus 2:14)
Notice again that God is the one doing the giving here.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth”. (Isaiah 53:7)
At Calvary Jesus was God’s Passover Lamb for the whole human race!
Jesus said he paid it all and there is nothing that we can add to what he has already done! (John 19:30)
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost”. (John 19:30)
“It is finished” was translated from the Greek word “Strong’s # G5055 – teleō means paid in full.
You receive the Gift of God freely, the moment that you believe the Gospel!
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life”. (John 6:47)
“hath” is a presentence verb that means that you possess it now.
Eternal Life is received as the result of a single act of faith, at a point in time and has consequences that are irreversible and last forever!
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved”. (John 3:17)
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18)
Notice that the only difference between being condemned and not being condemned is belief or unbelief. Until the moment that you believe the Gospel, you are condemned. At the moment that you believe the Gospel, you are not condemned. From that moment and forever afterwards you will never be condemned again!
It is that quick and that simple. (2 Corinthians 11:3) A new birth happens the instant that you believe! (1 John 5:1)
It is called “the gift of God” (Romans 6:23)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Ephesians 2:8,9)
“Not of works, lest any man should boast”. (Ephesians. 2:9)
Can’t brag about being saved because it is the gift of God. You don’t deserve it, can’t earn it, you can only receive it as a Gift by faith. (believing) Just Faith!
You need to believe that “The Gift of God Is Eternal Life” through trusting in this sacrifice that God has made on our behalf. When you put your trust in Gods sacrifice, God’s payment for your sins, he gives, Eternal Life as a free gift that same instant! He will not ever take that back! It is free! “It is the gift of God, “not of works lest any man should boast”. (Ephesians 2:9)
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life”. (1 John 5:12)
“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son”. ( 1 John 5:10)
The Holy Spirit is referred to as God’s witness. 1 John 5:10 is telling us that we receive the Holy Spirit when we believe God’s record of his Son. Furthermore it says that…
… If you don’t believe God’s record of his Son then you are calling God a liar! If you are believing in another record, you are calling God a liar.
A record is a list of facts. So this record is God’s list of facts about his Son that are essential to understanding the Gospel. No other list will do! Any similar lists which may omit anything essential or add anything is not God’s record. Only God’s record will do. If your Church is preaching a different gospel than the Bible, then you need to change your mind and believe the Bible and find a new Church.
“And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son”. (1 John 5:11)
Notice again, that God is doing the giving and the believer is doing the receiving. Most churches get this backward! He gives us Eternal life as a “free gift” when we believe Gods record about his Son.
This is the record of how God came to the earth, took on human flesh, lived a perfect life, and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for all of the sins of the world, and gives eternal life freely to all those who believe! That is the Gospel “according to the scriptures”. (1 Corinthians 15:3 & 4)
Jesus was crucified, buried and rose again the third day as proof that his payment was good.
The moment that you believe God’s record, you are born again. That can never be undone. You can’t become unborn or ever be lost again because Eternal Life is Eternal and it is a gift in the first place. God won’t take it back no matter what.
Once again, God is doing the giving and the believer is doing the receiving.
It is not dependent on your works or behavior. It is dependent on God’s faithfulness to fulfill his promises. Eternal Life is the Gift of God and it is ETERNAL! It never ends! It is Free! It can’t be lost or taken away! God will never, under any circumstances cast you out or loose you once you have believed. (John 6:37, 39)
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out”. (John 6:37)
“And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:39)
When you believe his record, you receive Jesus and receive life.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God”. (1 John 5:13)
If you haven’t already done it, believe God’s record now. If you are believing or trusting God’s record for the first time, you better have a talk with our Creator and do it now! In the quietness of your own mind, speak to God. He hears your thoughts. Maybe you could just speak to God through your thoughts and say something like…
…First, admit that you are a sinner. He knows it already so why don’t you just go ahead and admit it. This is humbling yourself to God.
Tell God that the best that you know how, you are going to put your trust in Jesus Christ as your God and Savior right now. You are trusting only in him, not your works or behavior past, present or future. You are not promising to do or not to do anything. Say… Thank you, Jesus! Amen!
A new birth occurs when the gospel record is understood and believed; it happens in a single point in time, it has everlasting and irreversible consequences. It may have already happened before you could think up the words for that prayer of thanks. It happens when you believe. You might forget it or not think about it from time to time, but you were born again when you understood and believed God’s record, the Gospel of your salvation. When you realized your situation and what God has done to rescue you from it. Before you even get a chance to tell anyone, the instant that you believe, you are saved forever! From this point on, God sees you as his son, and he deals with you as a son. (Hebrews 12:6)
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:” (1 John 5:1)
The moment that we believe the Gospel, we are Born Again! It is that simple, Just faith. (1 John 5:1)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)
Notice in Jn. 1:12 the believer is receiving Eternal Life and God is the one that is doing the giving. Many Churches get that backwards. A gospel that does not agree with scripture is “another gospel” and will not save. (2Coringthians 11:4) (Gal 1:6)
The Gospel is the record that God gave of his Son, (1 John 5:13) that is good news and everyone must believe it!
God says that we become “Sons of God” when we believe his record. (John. 1:12) This is not talking about some kind of process, but a spiritual birth, that takes place instantly. The moment you make the choice to believe the Gospel, a new life begins that will never end.
No outward signs of this new birth are promised, only chastisement. (John 3:8) (Hebrews 12:6, 8)
“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3:7)
“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit”. (John 3:8)
That sounds like there are no outward signs to look for. It says that you cannot tell… “but canst not tell” To identify believers you must ask questions about their beliefs. If they don’t understand and believe God’s record, assume that they are not saved.
God said he could not find one out of a thousand men to be faithful and among women it is less than that.
“Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found”. (Ecclesiastes 7:28)
Many Christians don’t bear any fruit at all.
“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire”. (1 Corinthians 3:15)
Men can fake works of God to deceive others.
“And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God”. (Luke 16:15)
“for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
God said that he will use unbelievers to punish any disobedient children.
“I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men”: (Psalms 145:12)
“… My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:” (Hebrews 12:5)
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth” (Hebrews 12:6 )
“If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not”? (Heb. 12:7)
“But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons”. (Heb. 12:8)
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby”. (Heb. 12:11)
“For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged” (1Corinthians 11:31)
“But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world” (1Corinthians 11:32)
You may not want to do what God wants you to do, but you are still his son/daughter! Whether you choose to seek Gods will or not, God will deal with you as a son/daughter. God sees you as righteous as he is even though you don’t act like it. ( ) You are covered by the righteousness that God gave you. (Philippians 3:9) It is a Gift! It is free! It is eternal!
God will discipline you as a son/daughter when you are disobedient (Hebrews 12:5-11) & (Psalms 145:12), and reward you when you are obedient…
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ”. (1 Corinthians 3: 11)
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble”; (1 Corinthians 3: 12)
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is”. (1 Corinthians 3: 13)
“If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward”. (1 Corinthians 3: 14)
“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire”. (1 Corinthians 3: 15)
Even if you never do anything of value for God, you are still saved!
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2Cor. 11:3)
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house”. (Act 16:31)
Just Faith, it is that simple!
Only the Gospel according to the scriptures! (1 Corinthians 15:4)
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;” (1 Corinthians 15:3)
“And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:4)
Once you are saved, you can never be lost.
No matter what, God will not cast you out! (John 6:37)
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out”. (John 6:37)
As a believer, God judges you when you don’t judge yourself (Psalms 145:12); and you will be judged in the future to determine your eternal status in heaven. A believer can never be lost even if you stop believing.
“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” (2Timothy 2:13)
That is it. Once you believe you are born again at that moment and it can’t be undone! You can’t be unborn!
The Gospel record is a list of facts about who Jesus is and what he did. If you are believing in a false record you need to change your mind and believe God’s record. “Change your mind” is another way of saying change your beliefs, about Jesus.
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2Cor. 4:4)
Satan blinds the minds of the lost with lies and misinformation about God’s record of his Son.
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them”. (Isaiah 8:20)
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”. (1 John 4:1)
Satan discredits God’s word by misrepresenting what it says. (Jeremiah 14:14)
“Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.” (Jeremiah 14:14)
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints”.(1 Cor. 14:33)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.(2 Timothy 1:7)
